Senior Software Engineer, Platform

Senior Software Engineer, Platform | Remote

Olli Health is a Series A funded healthtech startup modernizing home healthcare with advanced AI tools, and we are growing. We're looking for a creative, low-ego, collaborative, startup-native engineer energized by challenging, nuanced problems with the potential to have a massive impact.

The Senior Software Engineer on Platform will be the senior-most engineer on the team building our platform: the web application home health agencies use to run several business-critical clinical documentation and back office workflows. You'll work closely with our first PM, the VP of Engineering, and a talented group of earlier-career engineers. This is a hands-on full-stack role with real leadership weight: mentoring teammates, contributing to architecture decisions, owning key repositories, and shipping the work that matters most to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ship features end-to-end across the full stack: design, requirements gathering, building, testing, deploying.

  • Contribute to architecture and technical-direction decisions as the platform grows from where it is today to where it needs to be next.

  • Mentor and grow the engineers around you through code review, pairing, and the day-to-day craft of writing clear, maintainable code.

  • Set the bar on quality: testing, observability, performance, and the things that make a codebase pleasant to work in two years from now.

  • Work directly with our customers and internal users to identify opportunities, sharpen workflows, and observe our work in daily use.

  • Help shape engineering practices on a small team still figuring out what to formalize and what to leave loose.

Requirements:

  • Full-stack experience: 5+ years of experience working with Python and a modern web framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask), production React, and PostgreSQL. Comfortable designing APIs, modeling data, and reasoning about performance. AWS experience required.

  • Strong fundamentals: Data structures, algorithms, database design, and API design. Fluent building everything from REST APIs to heavy chained workflows in Python.

  • Hands-on-keyboard senior: Prior experience as the senior IC or tech lead on a small team. You're writing code as an IC from the first week, with expectation to grow into team leadership.

  • Mentorship instinct: You enjoy lifting up the engineers around you. Code review feels like collaboration, and opportunities to share your experience with others.

  • Startup mentality: An enjoyment of that early startup balance between efficiency, scalability, and shipping fast to meet customer needs.

  • Flexible problem solving: Equally interested in deep-diving a tricky bug, debating architecture, or shipping the unglamorous fix the customer needs Monday, and wise enough to know which is highest leverage in the moment.

  • Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available).

Desirable Skills (Bonuses):

  • Proven success in the Seed/Series A stage fast-paced startups.

  • Experience with our stack: PostgreSQL, Redis, Python, FastAPI, React.

  • Comfort interacting with ML/NLP and LLM-native data engineering problems.

  • Experience working with healthcare datasets (e.g. payer claims data, clinical notes, EHR charts, ICD-10 coding, etc.).

  • Experience building secure systems with HIPAA compliance as a core principle.

  • Prior experience as the senior-most engineer on a small team, especially one that grew under your watch.

  • An appreciation for the challenges of building with LMs (healthy skepticism a must).

At Olli we value a growth mindset and problem-solving skills as much as specific tool proficiency and years of experience. If you have a solid foundation in engineering principles and are eager to learn, we want to hear from you.

What We Offer:

  • A key early engineering FT role with equity vesting options and real influence on the platform's technical direction.

  • A chance to be at the forefront of healthtech innovation, building real AI tools that meet compliance standards while solving real problems (we don't build marketing gimmicks).

  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment that prioritizes debate, ethical decision-making, and is allergic to inflated egos.

  • Flexible remote work environment with travel to quarterly team onsite meetings.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and leadership.

  • Compensation Range: $160k - $190k annual FTE base comp + equity options

  • Benefits: 100% coverage of Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurance premiums; unlimited PTO; 401K plan; individual budget for your preferred laptop and monitor setup; fully remote; great colleagues working on a challenging problem for meaningful customers (older adults).
