About Us
Olli Health is a TechStars NYC ‘24 startup dedicated to modernizing home healthcare with advanced AI tools and we are growing!
We’re looking for a creative, low-ego, collaborative, startup-native engineer who is energized by challenging, nuanced problems with the potential to have a massive impact.
This Senior ML/NLP Engineer will be pivotal in shaping our product as we strive to improve home healthcare operations. This role will be responsible for running ML experiments, designing data pipelines, improving efficiency, and shipping features.
We recently raised a $10M Series A from top investors and leading healthcare strategics, and we’re now scaling fast.
What You’ll Do
Design and run both classic ML/NLP and LM-focused experiments to optimize model performance.
Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics and ML-ready datasets.
Design and implement evaluation infrastructure to enable local experiments while maintaining paths to productization.
Work with external customers and our internal user-base to identify opportunities for improvement, improve workflows, and directly observe our work in daily use.
Ship priority customer-demanded features that touch the full stack.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of shipping high-quality production code.
3+ years of experience in early-stage startups (Seed, Series A, or Series B). We are specifically looking for someone who has demonstrated independence, ownership, and proactive execution within small, fast-moving teams.
Demonstrated interest in health-tech, such as experience at a health-tech startup or meaningful work within healthcare or clinical data contexts.
Strong, recent, hands-on Python expertise, with senior-level proficiency in writing clean, maintainable code and mentoring other engineers.
Recent AWS experience, including comfort with core infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and managing cloud resources.
PhD-level machine learning depth (either with a PhD or equivalent experience) showing the ability to perform end-to-end ML work: research, experimentation, data engineering, and production deployment.
ML expertise in training and evaluating large supervised learning models, using PyTorch or TensorFlow in an industry or academic environment.
NLP expertise, including strong fundamentals in NER, embeddings, full-text search, and an ability to choose between classical and modern approaches with good intuition.
Solid technical engineering practices, including Git proficiency, consistent task tracking, and producing clear, reliable, high-quality code.
Bonsus Skills:
An appreciation for the challenges of building with LMs (healthy skepticism a must)
Experience building data pipelines for analytics and ML-ready datasets
Experience working with healthcare datasets (e.g. payer claims data, clinical notes, EHR charts, ICD-10 coding, etc.)
Experience building secure systems with HIPAA compliance as a core principle
